For 2015 much depends on Russian policy on Ukraine and how that impact domestically.  The economy had started to show signs of difficulty in 2012 and 2013, and to a large extent the Ukrainian events have deflected the attention of the domestic population.  Whereas it has created a basis for support for the government, the economy is now in a much worse position than it was at the start of 2014.   Ideally this scenario could force the current leadership to implement the long overdue economic reforms, but there are doubts that this would be the outcome and that the government is more likely to impose even more autocracy.

Another possibility is that the government is replaced which would result in a change in foreign and domestic policy, but that seems inconceivable without some force.  There are many imponderables over how events might unfold this year, the only thing that seems certain is that Putin is not going to give up power voluntarily.
